Malpensa to Milan by Private Car: About 50 Minutes, Door to Door

Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP) is about 50 km north-west of the city, and a private car service from Malpensa takes around 45 to 60 minutes to your hotel, home or office in central Milan. Your driver follows your flight in real time, waits inside the arrivals hall of Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 with a name board, helps with every suitcase and drives you straight to the door. The price is for the whole car, not per person, and includes fuel, motorway tolls and airport parking.

The Malpensa Express train is a good choice if you travel light and your hotel is next to Cadorna or Centrale station. The car makes the difference when you land late at night or early in the morning, travel with children or several bags, arrive as a group, or are not going to Milan at all. From Malpensa we drive directly to Lake Como, Lake Maggiore, Lugano, Zermatt and St. Moritz, without a stop in the city.

For departures we collect you at your door and plan the pick-up time around your flight, the terminal and the traffic on the A8 motorway. Check your price and book online →

Why book with a local company? Global booking platforms pass your transfer to whichever operator is free, so you rarely know who is coming. With MilanobyCar you deal with the same small Milan team from the first email to the moment you arrive. When we work with trusted local partner chauffeurs, MilanobyCar remains responsible for your booking, the car and the price.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions — Malpensa Airport Car Service

How much is a private car from Malpensa Airport to Milan?

A private transfer from Malpensa to central Milan starts from €170 per car for a Mercedes E-Class with up to 2 passengers, and from €200 for a Mercedes V-Class with up to 6 passengers, on a weekday daytime transfer. Night-time, high-season weekends and public holidays are priced differently. The price is per car, not per person, and includes fuel, motorway tolls and airport parking. Enter your trip in the booking form to see the exact price for your date and flight time.

How long does it take from Malpensa to central Milan?

About 45 to 60 minutes for the 50 km from Malpensa to central Milan on the A8 motorway, depending on the time of day. Arriving in the city between 7 and 9 am or 5 and 7 pm can add 20 to 30 minutes.

Where will the driver meet us at Malpensa?

Inside the arrivals hall of Terminal 1 or Terminal 2, as you come out of baggage reclaim and customs. The driver holds a name board, helps with the luggage and walks you to the car. You receive the driver's name and mobile number the day before your arrival.

What happens if my flight is delayed?

Nothing changes for you. The driver follows your flight in real time and adjusts the pick-up to the actual landing time. The first 60 minutes after landing are always free, and the confirmed price does not change because of a flight delay.

Which terminal should I tell you, Terminal 1 or Terminal 2?

Just send us your flight number and we check the terminal. Terminal 1 handles most scheduled and intercontinental flights, Terminal 2 is used mainly by easyJet. The two terminals are a few kilometres apart, so it matters that the driver waits at the right one.

Can you book fast-track security or a VIP lounge at Malpensa?

No. We provide the meet and greet service inside the arrivals hall. Fast-track security and VIP lounge services are sold by the airport and booked directly by passengers.

Is the Malpensa Express train cheaper than a private car?

Yes, per person. The Malpensa Express runs to Milano Cadorna and Milano Centrale in roughly 40 to 55 minutes. A private car is booked at a confirmed price per car, waits for you even if your flight is late, takes all your luggage and drives you to the door of your hotel, which for two or more people with suitcases is often worth the difference.

Can you drive us from Malpensa directly to Lake Como or Switzerland?

Yes. Como is about 45 minutes from Malpensa and starts from €165, Bellagio about 1 h 40 from €305, Lugano about 1 hour from €255, and Zermatt-Täsch about 2 h 50 from €615 and St. Moritz about 3 h 15 from €610. You go straight from the airport without a stop in Milan.

How early should we leave Milan for a flight from Malpensa?

From central Milan allow about 50 to 60 minutes to the airport, more at rush hour, and plan to arrive 2 hours before a European flight and 3 hours before a long-haul flight. We suggest the pick-up time when you book.

Do you provide child seats?

Yes. Baby seats, child seats and boosters are available on request, and free of charge on medium and long journeys such as Lake Como, Switzerland or Venice. Tell us the age of each child when you book.

How many passengers and suitcases fit in the car?

The Mercedes E-Class takes up to 2 passengers with 2 large suitcases and cabin bags. The Mercedes V-Class takes up to 6 passengers with their luggage, at the same price for 1 to 6 people. With several large suitcases we recommend the V-Class rather than the S-Class, whose boot is smaller.

Is MilanobyCar a local company?

Yes. MilanobyCar is a licensed NCC private hire company based in Milan since 1993, run by Adrian and a small team. We are not a global platform or a booking app: you deal with the same people from the first email to the end of your trip. When we work with trusted local partner chauffeurs, MilanobyCar remains responsible for your booking.

How do I book and pay?

Enter your pick-up, destination, date and time in the booking form on this page to see the price and book online, or contact us by WhatsApp or phone at +39 335 821 0912 or by email at booking@milanobycar.com. Payment is made online through a secure link. Cancellation terms are in our booking terms and conditions.

Malpensa Express, Taxi or Private Car?

The Malpensa Express train runs from both terminals to Milano Cadorna and Milano Centrale in roughly 40 to 55 minutes and is the cheapest option for one person with a small bag whose hotel is near one of those stations. Official white taxis wait outside arrivals and charge a fixed fare for the city. A private car service costs more than the train but is booked in advance at a confirmed price, waits for you inside the terminal even if your flight is late, takes several suitcases and children’s seats, and goes anywhere: your hotel door in Milan, a villa on Lake Como or a resort in Switzerland. For two or more people with luggage, the difference per person is small.

Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 at Malpensa

Terminal 1 handles most scheduled and intercontinental flights; Terminal 2 is used mainly by easyJet. The two terminals are a few kilometres apart and linked by a free shuttle bus and the train, so tell us your flight number and we send the driver to the right one. On arrival the driver waits in the public arrivals hall as you come out of baggage reclaim and customs. If you are delayed at passport control or baggage claim, the driver can see that your flight has landed and keeps waiting.

Practical Tips for Departures from Malpensa

From central Milan allow about 50 to 60 minutes to the airport, more at rush hour or on Friday evenings, and arrive at least 2 hours before a European flight and 3 hours before a long-haul one. Fast-track security and VIP lounge services are sold by the airport and booked directly by passengers. If you are staying on Lake Como, Malpensa is often more convenient than Linate: Como is only about 45 minutes away.
