Cervinia is a high-altitude ski resort on the Italian side of the Matterhorn, at an altitude of 2,203 meters within the Cervino massif. It's not as modern as Solda or Zermatt, but has its own distinct charm. The town is built around an old Fascist hotel, the Torre Alpha. It’s full of lots of cute little bars and shops, and there’s the fun nightlife in the main square – Piazza Martiri Della Libertà. I recommend staying just outside Cervinia in one of the surrounding villages such as Valtournenche (medium distance) or Randa (short distance).
Cervinia is set to become the next big resort in Europe. I visited this stunning mountain top resort on the Italian side of the Matterhorn last winter, and was very impressed by its off-piste terrain, friendly locals, and lively après ski scene..

I’ve always found the Italian side of the Matterhorn to be one of the more interesting ski resorts in the Alps. The only other alpine resort to be featured on Servago, Cervinia is a good starting point for anyone traveling through Italy who wants to try some skiing while they’re there.
People only pay 2 euros for the Funivia del Cervino cable car to visit Cervinia (aka Cervino) ski resort in winter, but don’t let that fool you — this is an amazing spot for off-piste and freeriding! The mountain has a special charm about it that makes it stand out among other ski resorts in Italy. And as I spent my afternoons carving up fresh powder on the back-side and evenings drinking mulled wine, I realized there are numerous reasons why you should consider skiing in Cervinia next year..

Are you looking to escape the crowds of the more popular ski resorts and head to somewhere less touristy? Or do you just want to go somewhere a little more off the beaten track? If you want to ski in an up-and-coming resort, then Cervinia fits the bill. First, it’s in Italy and not everyone will have heard of it. And second, it is one of the highest altitude skiing resorts in the Alps making for some truly great snow.
The high-altitude Cervinia ski resort is a family-friendly, Italian Alps ski area that has benefited from significant snowmaking investment by its owners, Intrawest (Whistler Blackcomb and Steamboat Resorts in North America). The resort comprises two separate sectors and has a total of 50km (31 miles) of piste.
I've been skiing here before and love it. Although there are some dodgy-looking blue runs and a number of easy green runs (for novices), there are also some long difficult red runs (intermediate) and plenty of black diamond mogul slopes.
Cervinia is a superb ski resort that has plenty to offer skiers and snowboarders alike. The piste map is varied, the scenery is stunning, and there’s great skiing between both morning and afternoon lifts. If you consider yourself a skier or snowboarder, Cervinia should be on your list of ski resorts to visit. You will not regret it!
Cervinia is a charming high alpine resort with an authentic Italian atmosphere. Despite its small size, there are plenty of activities available, especially if you explore beyond the main village. And while it will never compete with the likes of Zermatt or Zurs, Cervinia is well worth considering for those willing to go off the beaten path and check out what this little village has to offer.
I can't promise you will fall in love with Cervinia as I did, but I am sure it will bring a spring in your ski step. If this is your first time skiing in the region or if you want to broaden your horizons to some of Switzerland's finest off-piste terrain, then Cervinia should be at the top of your list! Keep reading to learn what sets apart Cervinia from other ski resorts.
